JAMB Cut Off Mark for Software Engineering

If you are planning to study Software Engineering at a Nigerian university, one of the important admission requirements you need to pay attention to is the JAMB cut-off mark. Candidates are expected to meet the required cut-off mark before they can proceed with the admission process for the course.

The JAMB cut-off mark is the minimum score a candidate is expected to obtain in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to be considered for admission. However, meeting the minimum JAMB score does not automatically guarantee admission, as universities may have their own requirements for different courses.

In this article, we have provided the JAMB cut-off mark for Software Engineering, as well as other admission requirements candidates need to know. You will also find the required JAMB subject combination, O'Level requirements, and the list of universities offering Software Engineering in Nigeria.

JAMB Cut-Off Mark for Software Engineering

The JAMB cut-off mark is one of the important requirements candidates must meet when seeking admission to study Software Engineering at a university. For university admission, JAMB has set the minimum cut-off mark at 150. Candidates who want to study Software Engineering should therefore ensure they score at least 150 in the UTME to meet the minimum requirement.

However, 150 is only the minimum score and does not guarantee admission. Candidates should aim for a score of 200 or higher, especially because admission requirements can vary from one university to another and Software Engineering may be competitive in some institutions.

Meeting the required JAMB score is only one part of the admission process. Read on to see the other requirements you need to meet, including the JAMB subject combination, O'Level requirements and universities offering Software Engineering.

JAMB Subject Combination for Software Engineering

The JAMB subject combination is another important requirement candidates need to get right when applying to study Software Engineering. Candidates are expected to select the subjects required for the course when registering for the UTME. The required JAMB subject combination for Software Engineering is:-

  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • One of Biology, Chemistry, Agricultural Science, Economics or Geography

However, candidates should check the specific requirements of their chosen university, as the subject combination may differ across institutions.

O’Level Requirements for Software Engineering

Candidates seeking admission to study Software Engineering are also expected to have the required O’Level credits in their SSCE results. The general requirement includes five (5) credit passes in:-

  • English Language
  • Mathematics
  • Physics
  • Two other Science subjects

Candidates should ensure that they meet the O’Level requirements of their chosen university before applying for Software Engineering. Meeting the JAMB cut-off mark alone is not enough if the required O’Level subjects are missing.

List of Universities Offering Software Engineering

The following universities offer Software Engineering as a course:-

  • Al-Hikmah University, Ilorin, Kwara State
  • American University of Nigeria, Yola, Adamawa State
  • Babcock University, Ilishan-Remo, Ogun State
  • Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja
